The Kerala government has announced a minimum support price (MSP) for 16 crops to be implemented from November 1, in an effort to aid farmers amidst ongoing protests against the central government's agricultural legislation. The MSP will be established based on the cost of production and productivity, aiming to provide price stability and good returns for farmers. The Department of Agriculture, along with local governments and the Department of Co-operation, will oversee the scheme. Primary agricultural co-operative societies will be responsible for procuring crops directly from farmers in 250 markets. A farmer can benefit from this scheme only with 15 acres of land per season.
