(Goiseong=Yonhap News) Reporter Yoon Woo-yong = On the 10th, North Chungcheong Province's Goesan County announced that it will hold the "Kimchi Festival" from November 6 to 9 at the Organic Farm Expo Square.
The festival, themed "All the Kimchi in the World, Bonfire Party," will feature activities such as kimchi-making experiences, a nationwide kimchi-making competition, and a "7080 Eat-While-You-Cook Experience Zone."
Kimchi-making experiences will be offered in various ways, including on-site kimchi-making at the festival, drive-through kimchi-making (for those who have made a reservation in advance), and on-the-spot kimchi-making.
The county will accept advance applications for 1,101 teams (791 general teams and 210 eco-friendly teams) through the Goesan Kimchi Festival website (https://gimjang.kr/).
The experience fee is 148,000 won for 20 kg of pickled cabbage for the general category and 170,000 won for eco-friendly cabbage. Those who make a reservation will receive a Goesan Love Voucher worth 5,000 won for every 10 kg of pickled cabbage.
At "Master's Kimchi House" run by kimchi master Lee Ha-yeon and "Kimchi Story Museum" run by Kimchi Museum Director Kim Jeong-hee, visitors can experience traditional kimchi-making secrets and the history and culture of kimchi.
For consumers who cannot visit the site, pickled cabbage and fillings are sold at the Goesan Jangter shopping mall (www.gsjangter.go.kr), and 13 farms in the Goesan area operate "Village Kimchi Experience Centers."
