The Portuguese Government is set to allocate two million euros to combat the spread of the Xylella fastidiosa bacteria, which has been detected in rosemary plants in Portugal. The bacteria, spread by the leafhopper insect, poses a threat to a variety of plants and crops. The funding will support investments in nurseries producing ornamental species, fruit trees, and vines, with the possibility of coverage up to 80% of the total cost, capped at 80,000 euros per beneficiary. The goal is to encourage producers to implement structures to protect against the disease.
