Greece has launched another autumn campaign for vaccinating foxes against rabies by air-dropping baits in 17 regions.

The Ministry of Rural Development and Food (MARD) informs the citizens of Greece that the country has implemented a surveillance and control program for rabies and within the framework of this program, two vaccination campaigns are held annually, one in the spring and one in the autumn, to immunize wild animals (red foxes) against the rabies virus. Therefore, at the beginning of October 2025, the launch of the autumn (21st) vaccination campaign against rabies is planned. The vaccination is carried out by aerial spraying of rabies vaccine baits, under the coordination of the Animal Health Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and with the assistance of the local competent veterinary authorities in the country.
