The Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has unveiled a plan to bolster its grain production capacity by building 33.89 million mu of high-standard farmland by 2030. This plan, which includes six key projects, aims to ensure the protection of permanent farmland and sugar cane production zones. The region has already built 21.82 million mu of high-standard farmland, which accounts for about 44% of its total cultivated land area. The plan also emphasizes the construction of infrastructure like roads, canals, and drainage systems to enhance the resilience of farmland to natural disasters. Furthermore, the plan hopes to popularize advanced models of water-saving irrigation, green farmland, and digital farmland by 2035, with the annual grain production capacity of high-standard farmland expected to exceed 850 kg/mu.
