(Gunsan=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Jin-bang = On the 2nd, Gunsan City in North Jeolla Province announced that it has initiated a map and inspection of agricultural product origin labels ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
The city conducted a concentrated inspection on the origin label indications and false origin labeling of agricultural products at six traditional markets within the city.
This is to prevent illegal distribution activities of sacrificial goods and gift agricultural products, whose circulation increases ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
The city took administrative measures, including correction orders and warnings, against merchants who violated the origin label regulations.
Kim Sang-gi, Director of the City's Food Policy Division, said, "In preparation for Chuseok, we will thoroughly conduct inspections of origin labels to ensure that citizens can purchase agricultural products with peace of mind," and "We ask for the active participation of merchants to establish a culture of correct origin labeling."
