Gwangyang Agricultural Cooperative (Chairman Heo Soon-gu) announced that it is conducting volunteer activities to help with the harvest of ginger and persimmons in nine farms in Gwangyang-eup, Bonggang-myeon, and Okryong-myeon from the 6th to the 20th to meet the full swing of the autumn harvest season. This volunteer activity includes about 150 people, including Chairman Heo Soon-gu, the Gwangyang Agricultural Cooperative Women's College Alumni Association Happy Sharing Service Team, and multicultural family graduates, who are providing great support to farms facing labor shortages. Recently, labor shortages in rural areas have been intensifying due to aging and the phenomenon of avoiding rural labor. In particular, this year, extreme weather such as heat waves and heavy rains has caused crops to suffer.
