(Muan=Yonhap News) Reporter Hyeong Min-woo = Jeonnam Province announced on the 10th that Hampyeong County and Sinan County have been selected for the "2026 Seed Industry Infrastructure Establishment Project" led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, securing 890 million won in national funds.
Hampyeong County will invest 1.1 billion won, including 580 million won in national funds, to establish a smart seedling nursery for the management of chrysanthemum genetic resources and the stable propagation of superior varieties.
Sinan County plans to invest 600 million won, including 300 million won in national funds, to establish a seed production base for the development of superior narcissus seeds and the improvement of seed quality.
The Seed Industry Infrastructure Establishment Project was carried out to support production base facilities and equipment to ensure a stable supply of superior seeds and seedlings for food, horticulture, and special crops to farmers.
Yu Deok-gyu, Director of the Food and Horticulture Division of Jeonnam Province, said, "We will establish a resilient seed supply system to respond to changes in the agricultural environment, such as climate change, to increase the competitiveness of the seed industry and expand the distribution base for superior seeds and seedlings."
