In 2021, Hungary saw a significant increase in radish production, with a record 5.57 thousand tons, marking a 40 percent rise from the previous year as per KSH data. The second most important cold-tolerant vegetable in the country, radishes are primarily cultivated in the counties of Bács-Kiskun and Csongrád-Csanád across approximately 100 hectares. The Agricultural Economics Institute (AKI) reported that the one-month-old radishes are available year-round at the Budapest Wholesale Market, with a noticeable price increase of 11 percent for domestic radishes and a more substantial rise of 38 percent for imports from Italy compared to the previous year.
