The Ottoman strawberry, a unique variety grown in Turkey's Ereğli district, is expected to yield over 2 tons this year due to increased cultivation during the pandemic. Known for its taste, aroma, and use in various industries from food to cosmetics, it is sold for 50-60 liras per kilogram. The geographical indication registration process for this strawberry, which has been produced in the region for about 100 years, is still in progress. The Association for Spreading the Ottoman Strawberry and Protecting the Producer is supporting producers and anticipates a bumper crop, highlighting the strawberry's importance to the region.
