Tridge summary

(Pyeongchang=Yonhap News) Reporter Im Bo-yeon = The 8th Pyeongchang Highland Kimchi Festival, Pyeongchang's representative autumn festival, will be held from the 5th to the 17th at the Odaecheon Festival Site in Jinbu County.

The festival, which has been well-received by family visitors every year, promotes the excellence of the region's specialty, highland cabbage.

During last year's 10-day festival, about 40,000 people visited, consuming 190 tons of pickled cabbage, establishing itself as a genuine local festival where visitors can experience the taste and quality of Pyeongchang's highland cabbage.

The pickled cabbage used in the festival is entirely produced in Pyeongchang, known for its highland cabbage that maintains a crisp texture and does not easily become soft, making it ideal for kimchi.

The cabbage kimchi experience costs 68,000 won for 10 kg, the altar kimchi experience costs 70,000 won for 7 kg, and the premium cabbage kimchi experience costs 78,000 won for 10 kg.

The premium cabbage kimchi experience is a new program introduced this year, using cabbage pickled with sea deep-water salt.

Participants in the kimchi experience can mix the kimchi on-site and take it home directly.

Additionally, to alleviate the burden on participants traveling from Seoul by KTX, delivery services are available on-site, resulting in high satisfaction among participants.

Festival participation reservations can be made via the official website (www.gimjang700.co.kr) or by phone (☎033-336-4000), and while on-site registration is also possible, priority is given to those who have made a reservation.

Pyeongchang County Mayor Sim Jae-guk said on the 3rd, "It is an opportunity to create special memories with family by directly experiencing the kimchi culture and the excellence of Pyeongchang's highland cabbage, which are not easily experienced in the city," and expressed hope that many people will visit and enjoy the warm winter kimchi culture this year.
