How did orange prices move in Greece and the EU, what happened to imports

The European Commission published data on the price trend for oranges during last year's period (2023/2024). According to them in October 2024, the average producer price for oranges, at EU level, was 98 cents per kilogram, marking an increase compared to October which was 85 cents but a significant drop, by 26.26%, in compared to October 2023. Total EU orange imports in last year's trading period (from October 2024 to September 2024) amounted to 929,000 tonnes, which is higher than the 5-year average (871,587 tonnes). Greece in October 2024 had an average orange price of 74 cents per kilo, having a large drop of 40% compared to the price it had in October 2023, which was 1.20 euros per kilo. Also, this price is reduced, by 11.10%, compared to the average of the last 5 years. In November the price drop continued in our country and reached 61 cents per kilo.
