Anyone considering producing pecans as a way to expand and diversify their income source, or even as a nest egg for future retirement, should know that this crop is no longer a typical "weekend" activity. This is the main advice given by agricultural consultant and engineer Martín Basso, who currently advises over 70 farms and oversees approximately 1,500 hectares dedicated to this nut. "This activity is not what it seems," Basso pointed out in a conversation with Bichos de Campo, during a visit to his Pecanes Mercedinos venture, in the context of a meeting of the Pecan Producers Chamber (Cappecan).
