Marcílio Drescher, president of Afubra, opened the meeting presenting the numbers for the 2024/25 crop and commented on the increase in the number of producing municipalities, as well as the number of producers involved, production, and profitability of tobacco compared to the previous crop. Of the 1,191 municipalities in the Southern Region of Brazil, 525 produced tobacco in the 2024/25 crop, including 206 in Rio Grande do Sul, 188 in Santa Catarina, and 131 in Paraná. According to Afubra, 720 thousand tons were produced in the 2024/2025 crop and yielded around R$ 14.58 billion to the integrated producers.
