The Russian government is seeking to provide import duties exemptions for certain agricultural products until July 2025 to prevent consumer price hikes and market shortages. The proposal includes exemptions for import duties on up to 300 thousand tons of potatoes, 230 thousand tons of apples, 40 thousand tons of cabbage, 85 thousand tons of carrots, and 85 thousand tons of onions. Despite concerns from the Potato Union and the Russian Gardeners Association about the potential negative impact on domestic producers, experts believe that the move is necessary to stabilize prices for socially significant products.
