The Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) has released a report projecting a 4.5% decrease in EU citrus imports for the 2023/2024 campaign compared to the previous year, totaling 861,793 tonnes. Egypt remains the primary supplier, with a quota of 57.1%, while South Africa's quota drops by 9.5 points to favor Egypt, leading to a 22.2% decrease in supplies. In contrast, Egypt's exports to the EU are projected to rise by 6.5%, accounting for 87.1% of the total third-country market. The Netherlands, Spain, France, Italy, and Slovenia are the leading importers of Egyptian oranges.
