In 2022, Mexico's imports of pork, beef, and poultry meat increased by 4%, totaling 2.5 million tons and leading to a 13.8% increase in cost compared to 2021, amounting to 5,414.3 million dollars. Pork was the only product to show an increase in acquisitions, with a 9% rise, reaching 1.4 million tons and valued at 3,035.2 million dollars. Chicken purchases decreased by 2% but its price rose by 11.9%, totaling 1.227.3 million dollars. Beef, a product Mexico is self-sufficient in, saw a decrease in both volume and value, with falls of 3% and 7.1% respectively, totaling 169,068 tons and costing 1,151.6 million dollars.
