In 2023, around 5,970 agricultural enterprises in Germany harvested a total of 3.9 million tonnes of vegetables. At the same time, the area of vegetable crops decreased by 3% to 122.8 thousand hectares compared to 2022 and by 4% less than the average figure for 2017-2022. Organic farms produced 480,000 tons of vegetables on 18,400 hectares - 15% of the total area sown with vegetables. Carrots gave the largest harvest - 796.7 thousand tons (+ 2% compared to the previous year).
