In the region, retail prices for meat, vegetable, and fruit preserves for baby food have decreased. According to data from Altai Krai Statistics, over the month (from August 18 to September 15) in the consumer market of the Altai Republic, prices for fruit and vegetable products decreased. For example, potatoes became cheaper by 31.3% (to 43.75 RUB/kg), carrots by 30.7% (to 52.28 RUB/kg), onions by 25.1% (to 40.67 RUB/kg), white cabbage by 24.3% (to 37.09 RUB/kg), beets by 24.1% (to 43.25 RUB/kg), tomatoes by 15.1% (to 146.96 RUB/kg), and cucumbers by 9.9% (to 99.95 RUB/kg). The negative trend is due to the increase in supply due to the arrival of the new open-ground vegetable harvest on the market, as well as the appearance of homegrown vegetables in households, and, as a result, a decrease in demand for store-bought produce.
