Russia: In the Astrakhan region, the production of black caviar has increased by 5% to 25 tons

According to preliminary data, the production of black caviar in the Astrakhan region has increased by 5% over the year and amounted to 25 tons. This is due to the growth in the number of farms and enterprises engaged in sturgeon farming, the regional Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Ruslan Pashayev told TASS. "According to operational information, the preliminary total volume of farmed commercial sturgeon this year amounted to 2,400 tons, the production of food sturgeon caviar was about 25 tons. A 5% increase was recorded compared to the corresponding period in 2023," Pashayev said. According to him, the increase in the volume of black caviar obtained is due to the formation of sturgeon broodstock and an increase in the volume of farmed fish.
