Although the correlation between the advance of the agricultural frontier and the loss of natural vegetation is not 1 to 1, long-term analyses show that there is a certain link. Between 1985 and 2024, it is estimated that 10.5 million hectares of native forests disappeared, while, with a growth of 46%, agriculture expanded by 11.9 million hectares in those same years. This information comes from a series of land cover and use maps generated by MapBiomas Argentina and disseminated by the NGO Vida Silvestre Argentina.
