Since the beginning of 2023, the Office of the Rosselkhoznadzor for the Orenburg Region in Russia has intercepted over one cargo with quarantine pests. On June 14, 2023, they found an eastern codling moth in a consignment of fresh apricots from Uzbekistan, leading to the seizure of the shipment and administrative action against those responsible. Since the start of the year, 21 cases of quarantine pests have been detected in imported products, exceeding 200 tons in total. The eastern codling moth, an pest originally from East Asia that can destroy up to 100% of crop, is one of six types of quarantine objects found.
