In Ukraine, tomato prices unexpectedly went up: how much does a kilogram cost?

Greenhouse tomatoes are becoming more expensive in Ukraine. Farmers are raising prices against the backdrop of a noticeable reduction in supply on the Ukrainian market. Analysts of the EastFruit project reported that Turkey has traditionally been the main supplier of products, but the country has been experiencing adverse weather conditions for the past few weeks, which has significantly reduced vegetable supplies. Thus, today tomatoes in Ukraine are offered for sale wholesale at 85-105 UAH/kg ($2.01-2.48/kg), which is on average 10% more expensive than at the end of the last working week. At the same time, experts believe that sellers will not risk raising prices more due to weak demand. Currently, greenhouse tomatoes in Ukraine are already being sold on average 36% more expensive than in mid-January 2024.
