Thailand's corn production for MY 2024/25 is projected to increase by 2% to 5.4 million tons due to expanded planted area and higher yields. This is despite a significant increase in imports in the first quarter of MY 2024/25, which are 83% higher than the previous year and 85% higher than the five-year average, due to favorable weather conditions and reduced drought damage. Despite the increased production and imports, corn prices have fallen by 11% due to increased local production and duty-free imports from neighboring countries like Myanmar. The pig and poultry industries' recovery has also boosted demand for feed corn in the first half of 2024.
