India's agricultural and processed food exports experienced a 14.7% increase in the first half of this fiscal year, reaching $11.65 billion. This growth is attributed to rising exports of rice, fresh fruits, and vegetables. Rice exports saw a significant increase, reaching $5.28 billion compared to the previous year. There was also a notable rise in the export of fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, dairy, poultry, and cashews. The government's efforts to improve infrastructure in eastern, north-eastern regions, and hilly states, alongside promoting geographical indications (GI) tag goods and providing financial assistance for infrastructure and market development, have contributed to this growth.
