India's maize exports have seen a significant increase, reaching USD 816.31 million in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, a notable rise from USD 634.85 million the previous year. This growth is despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Neighboring countries Bangladesh and Nepal are the major importers of Indian maize, with Vietnam emerging as a new significant market. Maize exports have become a key source of foreign exchange for the country, with the rise in agri-exports seen as a reflection of the government's efforts to increase farmers' income. The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has played a key role in this growth through initiatives such as organizing B2B exhibitions, exploring new markets, and recognizing 220 labs for quality certification of exported products.
