REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NEW YORK -- Indonesia is channeling food aid worth 12 million US dollars (approximately Rp200.4 billion) for the people of Gaza through the World Food Programme (WFP) to respond to the food crisis in the region. This aid is part of a commitment of 10,000 tons of rice previously announced by the President of Indonesia at the UN General Assembly, Tuesday (23/9/2025). "The joint decision by the Palestinian government and Indonesia to channel aid through the WFP was made to ensure that the distribution can be carried out quickly and accurately," said Foreign Minister Sugiono in New York, Friday (26/9/2025). Sugiono explained that the shipment via WFP was chosen because the security situation on the ground is deteriorating, while only a few international organizations have direct access to Gaza.
