The USDA's agricultural attaché in Indonesia has forecasted a decline in the country's sugar production for the 2024/25 season, with production expected to fall to 2 million tons from the 2.3 million tons estimated for 2023/24. This comes alongside a slight increase in domestic sugar consumption, projected to rise to 7.6 million tonnes from 7.5 million tonnes. As a result, sugar exports are predicted to decrease significantly, while imports are set to increase to 5.550 million tons, up from 5 million tons. Additionally, ending stocks are anticipated to drop to 1.8 million tonnes from 1.950 million tonnes in the previous season, indicating tighter sugar supplies in Indonesia.
