Indonesia experienced a 0.32% increase in inflation in May, driven by higher prices in foodstuffs, transportation, and gold jewelry, as reported by the Central Statistics Agency. The inflation was influenced by an increase in the prices of various commodities such as chicken meat, air transport tariffs, beef, oranges, cooking oil, and inter-city transport fares, among others. However, red chilis and bird eye chilis led to a deflation. The city with the highest inflation was Manokwari, located in West Papua, while Tembilahan experienced the lowest inflation. The total calendar inflation from January to May was 0.90%, and the annual inflation stood at 1.68%.
