Iraq has achieved a wheat production surplus for the first time, with a harvest of 6.4 million tons, as reported by the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture. The country has 13 different crops that are exported, with the Gulf nations being a significant market. The ministry is planning to transition to a modern irrigation technology system through agreements with local and foreign companies, aiming to acquire over 13,000 sprinklers. These sprinklers are expected to reduce water usage and increase land production by at least 50 percent, adaptating to the changing climate in Iraq. The state-owned grain purchasing company has bought a record 6.3 million tons of wheat, indicating self-sufficiency in wheat stocks. The 23rd International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV, to be held on April 24 in Kyiv, will discuss the development of the grain sector in the Black Sea and Danube region.
