Turkey: Bean producers who started the season with record prices were upset

Producers in Aydın, one of Turkey's most important vegetable and fruit production centers, complained about unplanned agriculture. Stating that their biggest problem in the agricultural sector after the drought is price imbalance, farmers complained about the price of green beans, which started the season with 105 TL, dropping to 15 TL today, and stated that they had to spoil their bean fields, whose price did not even cover the cost of harvesting. Farmers producing beans in the plateaus between Aydın's Köşk district and İzmir's Ödemiş districts stated that they had to destroy the fields. Stating that the current wholesale price of the green beans they produce with great effort is far below the cost of electricity, irrigation and harvesting, Mehmet İnce, one of the farmers, said, "I am 52 years old.
