Just as had been speculated, the European Union is considering once again postponing by another year –as it had implemented in 2024– the "anti-deforestation" regulation 1115 due to the complications that the initiative represents. The Council of the EU-27 began working with the aim of simplifying the application of the regulation and postponing its entry into force so that operators, traders, and authorities can adequately prepare. "Following the concerns expressed by the Member States (of the EU-27) and stakeholders about the preparation of companies and administrations, as well as technical issues related to the new information system, the Council supports the specific simplification of the due diligence process proposed by the Commission," the body noted through an official statement.
