The Irrigation Technology Service (STR) of the Valencian Institute of Agricultural Research (IVIA) has installed a new agrometeorological station at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), which finances the equipment. Thanks to this station, farmers in the Horta Nord "will have a new reference for optimizing irrigation management in their farms, thus contributing to a more efficient and sustainable use of water," sources from the Valencian Government indicated. This new station, which measures a series of parameters for calculating irrigation needs, adds to the 56 existing in the irrigation areas of the Valencian Community. The meteorological stations are designed to collect the values necessary for calculating reference evapotranspiration, according to the Penman-Monteith method.
