The Ivory Coast's Livestock Ministry has announced an outbreak of the highly pathogenic H5N1 avian flu in the country, with the virus identified after a significant die-off of poultry in the Grand Bassam commune near Abidjan. In response, the ministry has restricted poultry movement within the area and suspended imports from other infected countries. The outbreak is part of a wider epidemic affecting several West African nations, with countries including Togo, Ghana, Niger, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Mauritania, and Senegal also reporting cases.
