Sales of yogurt and other dairy products in Russian cities have seen a significant decrease, with drops of 15.9% for spoon products and 17.4% for drinking yogurt, according to NielsenIQ data for the year leading up to March 2023. Additionally, sales of fermented baked milk, curdled milk, and cream also declined. This shift is due to consumer behavior and a redistribution in supply and demand. While sales of main dairy products are on the rise, there is a growing preference towards traditional dairy products with lower fat content and lower price points, indicating a trend towards more affordable dairy product categories amidst rising inflation and stagnant incomes.
