The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Vietnam has held a forum to connect dragon fruit production and consumption, focusing on the potential for trade with Japan. Japan has a high demand for both fresh and processed dragon fruit from Vietnam, and has allowed imports of white-fleshed dragon fruit since 2009 and red-fleshed fruit since 2017. The Vietnamese government is encouraging local businesses to increase exports of highly processed products to Japan, and is directing agencies to review the needs of production, business, and processing establishments of agricultural products. The Ministry is also considering the planning and construction of agricultural product logistics centers and cold storage systems.
