(Muan=Yonhap News) Reporter Hyeong Min-woo = The Jeonnam Provincial Civil Affairs and Legal Police Team announced on the 30th that they conducted a special inspection targeting food material markets, butcher shops, and livestock and agricultural product sales outlets during the past Chuseok holiday, and discovered violations in 7 establishments.
In this special inspection, they targeted domestic beef sales outlets, checking for origin labeling, compliance with the livestock traceability system, and verifying the history numbers of products labeled as "Hanwoo," as well as requesting inspections from specialized inspection agencies to confirm the Hanwoo status.
The inspection results confirmed that all collected products were Hanwoo, but it was found that the history numbers listed did not match the actual animal information in 7 establishments.
The Civil Affairs and Legal Police Team plans to notify the relevant cities and counties of the violations so that administrative measures can be taken against the 7 establishments according to the Livestock Traceability Act.
Kim Mi-soon, Director of the Jeonnam Provincial Safety Policy Department, said, "To prevent consumer harm, we will do our best to establish a distribution order that consumers can trust by responding strictly to violations such as false origin labeling."
