Release of 1.25 Million Superior Aquatic Seedlings of 8 Species, Including Silver Carp and Eel The Jeonnam Provincial Marine and Fisheries Science Institute (Director Kim Chung-nam) announced that from April to September, 1.25 million superior aquatic seedlings of 8 species, including silver carp and eel, were released into public waters in 16 cities and counties, including Suncheon City, to restore the inland water ecosystem and increase fishery resources. Jeonnam Province, which has the largest inland water area in the country, is experiencing a gradual decline in ecosystem health due to recent impacts such as climate change, the spread of alien species, and water pollution. To this end, Jeonnam Province releases superior aquatic seedlings annually with the aim of restoring native fish species in inland waters and increasing the income of fishermen.
