On June 30-July 2, local time, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Jiang Wensheng led a delegation to Rome to attend the 44th Session of the FAO Conference and deliver a speech.
Jiang Wensheng stated that the Chinese government has always adhered to innovation-driven agricultural and rural development, using institutional, policy, and technological innovations to stimulate farmers' enthusiasm for farming and grain production, build sustainable agricultural food systems, and consolidate the foundation of food security. China's grain production has reached a new milestone of 700 million tons, firmly keeping its rice bowl in its own hands and making an important contribution to ensuring global food security. Jiang Wensheng proposed three initiatives: first, strengthen policy guidance and coordination for agricultural innovation, utilizing the FAO platform to enhance policy coordination and mutual learning; second, strengthen agricultural technology R&D and transformation application, focusing on global common challenges, conducting joint research and integrated breakthroughs to develop more accessible and affordable innovative technology products and services; third, strengthen agricultural innovation resource input and support, effectively mobilizing the enthusiasm of governments, social capital, and international financial institutions.
Jiang Wensheng also attended the side event "South-South and Triangular Cooperation between China and Brazil to Support Food Security and Nutrition" and the 13th Annual Consultation of the China-FAO South-South Cooperation Program, and conducted research on agricultural enterprises in Italy.
During the conference, Jiang Wensheng held talks with FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu and briefly exchanged views on strengthening cooperation between China and the FAO.
