Karaganda Farmers Suffer from Saiga Antelope Invasion: Around 30,000 Hectares Already Destroyed

In the Karaganda region, according to preliminary data, saiga antelopes have trampled about 30,000 hectares of crops. The highest number of animals is observed in Shet and Abay districts, reports the TV channel "24KZ". As noted, the situation is especially difficult in Nurinsky district - up to 350,000 saiga heads have been inhabiting the fields. Despite daily efforts by inspectors, specialists from "Okhot-Zooprom" and farmers themselves, herds of animals constantly return. For example, in the peasant farm where Konstantin Prib works as an agronomist, the situation with saigas is worsening every year. If last year there were about 7,000 head in these fields, this season there are already up to 20,000. Out of 16,000 hectares sown with grains, mainly wheat, 3,000 hectares have already been destroyed. "We have already calculated the losses.
