The Ministry of Agriculture recently announced that there will be no vaccination against sheep pox in small ruminants. However, the sheep farmers did not like the government's decision and started a petition in support of the vaccination.
So far, 3000 signatures have been collected, Simeon Karakolev, co-chairman of the National Sheep and Goat Breeders Association, announced to BNR.
"Isn't this one of the methods to show that a community disagrees with the policies of the state? Isn't this one of the tools? This is indicative. There is still time until the end of the year, the number will rise. Then we will submit it to the ministry and show the minister that the majority of sheep farmers are not of the same opinion," he pointed out and commented on the ministry's decision:
"I don't see anything expert in this. At the moment, when there are 30-40 outbreaks per day in the neighboring country - in Greece, when the euthanized animals are already over 350 thousand and when every expert can open a dynamic and see how..."
