At a government meeting on July 23, 2024, Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov reported a 3.4% increase in Kazakhstan's gross agricultural output, reaching 1.6 trillion tenge. The total sown area for the year was 23.8 million hectares, with efforts to diversify crops, including a reduction in wheat area by 450.3 thousand hectares and increases in oilseeds and sugar beet areas. However, some regions did not meet targets for reducing water-intensive crops like rice, and the sugar beet plan was underachieved by 10.4%.
