The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries in Indonesia, in partnership with the Nusantara Nature Conservation Foundation and USAID Indonesia, is working to sustain the snapper and grouper fisheries sector due to increasing demand and overfishing. The Harvest Strategy, which includes a quota system, is being implemented to regulate fishing and prevent overuse. The USAID Supporting Nature and People–Partnership for Enduring Resources (SNAPPER) project aims to balance ecological, economic, and social factors in the fishing industry, with support from the private sector. The project also introduces the Crew-Operated Data Recording System (CODRS) to record and analyze fishing practices efficiently. YKAN is providing real-time information on fishing grounds and comprehensive data on the total catch per sea route.
