Vietnam has seen a significant decrease in the price of Korean abalone, with frozen varieties now available at half the price of fresh ones. Both live and frozen types are popular in markets in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. Vietnam has emerged as the fourth largest importer of Korean abalone, with imports increasing by 20-30% each year, reaching $3.5 million is expected in 2022. The price of Korean live abalone has also dropped by 20% compared to the same period last year, costing 1.6-1.7 million VND per kg. Vietnamese consumers prefer Korean abalone over Australian products due to its lower price, with fresh products being recommended for purchase from reputable stores to ensure quality.
