KRUS warns: this incurable disease threatens farmers

In the work environment of farmers, there are many factors that may contribute to the occurrence of obstructive lung disease. The Agricultural Social Insurance Institution (KRUS) emphasizes prevention. KRUS in its preventive service emphasizes that obstructive pneumonia, a colloquial term referring to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which is a progressive respiratory disease characterized by limited airflow through the respiratory tract, poses a threat, among others, to farmers. "Its progression leads to reduced physical capacity, limited occupational activity, and in severe cases, respiratory failure. In Poland, approximately 2 million people suffer from COPD, and nearly 400 million worldwide. It occurs more frequently in men than in women, mainly in older individuals," indicates KRUS.
