The Agricultural Social Insurance Institution (KRUS) emphasizes prevention. KRUS in its preventive service emphasizes that obstructive pneumonia, a colloquial term referring to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which is a progressive respiratory disease characterized by limited airflow through the respiratory tract, poses a threat, among others, to farmers. "Its progression leads to reduced physical capacity, limited occupational activity, and in severe cases, respiratory failure. In Poland, approximately 2 million people suffer from COPD, and nearly 400 million worldwide. It occurs more frequently in men than in women, mainly in older individuals," indicates KRUS.
