On June 4, Sharip Sharipov, the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Dagestan, visited the southern regions of the republic to inspect the progress of pear orchard development. The Polosa company has constructed the largest pear orchard in Russia, covering 55 hectares, with plans to expand to nearly 200 hectares. Another company, Sad, also has one of the largest pear orchards in the country, spanning 22 hectares. Currently, Russia only meets 20% of its pear demand and imports about 250,000 tons of pears annually. Dagestani nurseries are working to improve pear cultivation, leveraging the region's natural and climatic conditions.
