Between May 6 and May 12, Azerbaijan and Turkey significantly contributed to the Russian market by importing large quantities of edible chicken eggs, with Azerbaijan leading the way at 306 thousand pieces and Turkey following closely with 1.9 million pieces. These egg shipments, received through the Yarag-Kazmalyar checkpoint in Dagestan, have been enthusiastically welcomed due to their high quality and compliance with Russian standards. This influx is part of a larger effort to address the critical shortage and soaring prices of eggs in Russia by importing up to 1.2 billion eggs without duties since the start of the year, a move aimed at improving accessibility and stability in the egg market. The article highlights the contributions of Belarus, Kazakhstan, and other countries in meeting Russia's egg demand, noting a notable increase in Belarusian egg exports this year. Although there have been challenges and adjustments, the efforts to stabilize egg prices and availability through various means, including import duties and domestic production adjustments, are showing positive results, with egg prices finally experiencing a consistent decline since winter. This development is crucial for addressing the affordability and access issues that have plagued Russian consumers throughout the past year.
