The management of Legal Reserve (RL) in old farms in Brazil, especially in Mato Grosso, can go beyond simple legal compliance and become a source of economic value. In another episode of the "Agrarian Law" segment, the lawyer and professor of Environmental Law Pedro Puttini Mendes explains that the 2012 Forest Code recognizes the acquired environmental right (consolidated area), which allows many producers to maintain a percentage of Legal Reserve smaller than what is required today (which is 80% in the Legal Amazon).
