A researcher at the Korea Maritime Institute has proposed the idea of a 'Seafood Consumption Activation Day' to boost seafood consumption and prevent the market from becoming stagnant. The institute's report highlights that while Korea's seafood consumption has grown significantly over the past 60 years, it has plateaued since 2018 due to factors like population decline and generational preferences. The report suggests that promoting seafood consumption through events, similar to those in the agricultural and livestock industry, could be effective. However, the researcher stresses that an official day needs to be designated and managed systematically with expanded funding for business operations.
