Vietnam has seen a significant increase in the export of meat and meat products in the second quarter of 2024, with a 15.8% increase in volume and a 9.5% increase in value compared to the first quarter of the same year. This represents a 36.3% increase in volume and an 8.8% increase in value compared to the same period in the previous year. The majority of these exports were to Asian countries, particularly Hong Kong. The country is aiming to reach an export value of 1-1.5 billion USD for livestock products by 2025 and 3-4 billion USD by 2030. To achieve this, the Department of Animal Health is negotiating with various countries to export livestock products and building disease-free zones for livestock farming. The livestock industry in Vietnam accounts for over 25% of the agricultural sector and saw a 6.38% increase in total output in 2023. However, the industry faces challenges such as market fluctuations and feed availability.
